Glenfeshie House Full Details
As you approach Glenfeshie House via its’ private drive, you will see immediately that this modern Country House is of superb design inspired by the “Arts and Crafts” movement.
The house sits comfortably in its woodland surrounding, on an elevated position above the River Feshie at the foot of the Cairngorm Mountains, in Scotland’s Newest National Park.
Glenfeshie House sleeps up to 10 guests and is the hidden gem of the Great North Lodges Group. The house was given a makeover in early 2011, with the addition of a new lounge, games room, bedroom with en-suite and new Kitchen/Dining space. This has transformed the already popular Glenfeshie House in to a remarkable holiday property, enabling guests to have a first class holiday experience.
The bold colour scheme and attention to detail are distinctive features of the house. The house is on two levels. The ground floor has a well-appointed, new Shaker style kitchen with Maplewood worktops, opening onto a generous dining area. The kitchen is equipped with a double oven, 4 ring ceramic hob, dishwasher, fridge and microwave. There is a walk-in store containing a large American style fridge/freezer. The pine-floored kitchen is of open plan design, flowing through to the dining room.
This fabulous area has comfy armchairs, a library of books and games, a crackling open fire, and a beautiful oak dining table seating 10. There are French doors opening from the dining area to the outside. This room provides the perfect setting for a family and friends gathering. Just imagine on a winters night, a roaring fire, a sumptuous meal with friends around the table, as the snow drifts down lightly outside. Or in the summer, a buffet lunch with the doors open so the sound of the local bird life permeates in to the room. What a fantastic dining experience at all times of the year!!
The dining room is connected via large glass doors into the new lounge. This is a large airy room with an open ceiling. Its design would not be out of place in any glossy lifestyle magazine. The Lounge has large wrap around windows looking onto the immediate surrounding heather moorland and birch woodland, and beyond, through the trees to Glenfeshie and the Cairngorm Mountains. A Cosy wood-burning stove is installed, on a slate plinth. There are three large leather sofas and extra comfy chairs.
For your entertainment the owners have provided a 40-inch Samsung LCD TV, with Freeview Channels, and a stereo system with iPod dock. Just to relax in this room is a joy, bright but tranquil in its beautiful sylvan setting. From the lounge there are French doors leading to a paved patio area with outside furniture. Perfect for that morning coffee, al fresco Dining, or an evening “sundowner”.
There is a ground floor double bedroom, with walk in storage, and an en-suite shower room. Leading off of the downstairs hallway is a cloakroom with WC and wash-hand basin, and also a utility room, doubling as a drying room, containing a sink and washer dryer. Next to this is the new games room with a table-tennis table and access to outside.
The upper floor features a brand new master double bedroom, with a cleverly designed dressing area and an attractive en-suite shower room. There is a second double bedroom with en-suite shower room and there are two twin bedrooms with walk in storage, which brings the sleeping capacity to 10 guests. The 2 upstairs bedrooms that do not have en-suite facilities are situated close to the large, bright, family bathroom with bath, shower, WC and wash-hand basin. All of the upstairs bedrooms have a variety of fantastic views to mountains and woodlands in all directions.
