Mountain Bear Full Details

Mountain Bear main page | Mountain Bear Gallery

Mountain Bear Lodge was completed last year and our first clients arrived June 06 and were delighted on arrival The lodge really looks fantastic. The stylish fabrics, curtains, furniture and state of the art appliances, really do blend in superbly with the natural douglas fir logs and pine cladding of Mountain Bear. The Lodges' peaceful setting - on the edge of the Caledonian pinewood, overlooking the moorland and mountains has been revealed in all of its' splendour and the magic is enhanced by the lodges' own clan of resident Red Squirrels (Don't forget to bring some nuts!!) All of the guests to date have been thrilled by their experience in the Lodge.

Mountain Bear Lodge?

When the owners of Mountain Bear Lodge set out to create the lodge, they firstly had a wish list of all of the elements that had to be in this World-class property. Here are some of them:

  • It had to be in a fabulous Highland location, but not too remote.
  • It had to have views of mountains, moors and forests.
  • It had to be of spectacular, sustainable design, incorporating a large glass window and "mammoth" Fir logs.
  • It had to be large enough to accommodate sixteen guests, yet still have a very cosy feel.
  • It must be private.
  • It must be luxurious, yet not pretentious.
  • It must have a sauna and Jacuzzi bath within a luxury "recreational" Spa Suite.
  • It must have a log burning open fire.
  • It must have an outside Hot Tub.
  • It must have a cosy, intimate dining area that is big enough to accommodate full occupancy
  • It must have a fabulous modern, working kitchen, superbly appointed with top of the range appliances
  • It must have a sundeck that sun-worshipers can track the sun all day
  • It must have Internet access, be fitted with Wide screen Plasma TV, good hi-fi and entertainment equipment
  • It must have a kids play room with games consul
  • It must have luxurious bedrooms – the majority with en-suite facilities
  • It must provide our guests with an unforgettable experience in an oasis of luxury at an affordable cost.
  • It must give our guests a holiday living experience unmatched anywhere in Scotland.

In the creation of Mountain Bear Lodge we have fulfilled all of the above criteria – and more! We have turned a dream into a reality.

So what is Mountain Bear Lodge?

Romantic!

The lodge can be different things to different guests. Mountain Bear Lodge is a heart-stopping romantic lodge, constructed from "Mammoth" logs, set in a wooded Highland location overlooking heather moorland with views on to the Cairngorm Mountains. Where a couple can enjoy a glass of bubbly in the fabulous double Jacuzzi, or soak in the outside Hot Tub under a starry sky, or a relaxing sauna and then cuddle in front of the massive log stove and watch the sun set over the mountains. So come to the lodge with that special person.

Friends & Family!

Mountain Bear Lodge has that special quality that a family or friends get-together a memorable occasion. There is plenty of space – six bedrooms with four en-suite, and a kids play room.

Corporate!

Accommodating up to 16 guests, set in its stunning location, Mountain Bear Lodge is perfect for weekend business meetings, team building or training weeks.

We appreciate that at first glance, this lodge seems very expensive. But is it? It can sleep up to 16 people and if you work out the per person, per night rate, it is much less expensive than some B & B accommodation!

Lounge

The lounge cathedral ceiling is designed to give an overwhelming feeling of space and light, this combined with the massive log stove and cosy dining area, makes this the ultimate gathering place to exchange stories of the days events. The lounge is installed with a large TV, Skybox (Full Package) and DVD player. There is a fold down double sofa bed.

Spa Suite

There is tons of hot water to service the magnificent Spa Suite, which is equipped with a sauna, a double Jacuzzi, stylish double wash hand basin and an interesting walk-in shower. The attractive wooden blind opens on to a tranquil forest view – just the place to recover from the day’s activities.

Kitchen

The layout of the fabulous kitchen is designed so that, if required, everyone in the party can muck-in and help prepare the evening meal. It is equipped with two dishwashers so that cleaning up is quick and easy, there is a larder fridge, double oven, ceramic hob, freezer and many extras. The kitchen is situated only a few feet away from the cosy dining "Stuble". The "Stuble" is intimate, yet can seat up to 16 people.

Master double bedroom, with king size bed, TV and Stereo and en-suite shower room. This room has stunning views into forest and moorland.

Sitting area with satellite TV, CD, DVD player and games consul (X-Box 360 Live). En-suite bathroom with bath and shower. Views into the forest.

Outside

The outside lifestyle of the guests of the lodge has been carefully taken into account. The mudroom, where wet outside clothing can be removed before entering the main lounge, even has a heated floor. There is a massive 180 ° decked area for following the sun throughout the day. Two of the bedrooms have their own private sundecks leading directly from the bedroom. There is a large barbeque situated at the side of the decking, but for the ultimate in luxury we have installed a 7-person "Hot-Springs" hot tub. So whatever the weather, day or night, you and your party can luxuriate in the warm water, and maybe even see the runs that you skied or boarded down that day. What luxury and pleasure! For the poorer the weather, the more appealing the hot tub is. Mountain Bear also has its own resident Red Squirrel population within the grounds, (don't forget to bring some nuts!!!)

There is ample storage within the lodge. All bedrooms have "walk in" storage and TV’s. The entire lodge has thermostatically controlled electric heating. There is a cot & hi chair, which is available free of charge, an iron & board, hair dryers, board games and a small selection of CD's and DVD's. All towels, bed linen, and a selection of dressing robes are included in the rental.

Our goal was to create the very best self-catering property in Scotland, in terms of luxury, setting, ambience, furnishings and equipment, and we truly believe we will have achieved this.
