A spacious and comfortable lodge
on Saturday, 23 Nov 2024
Aviemore itself is a beautiful place and the location of the lodge helps get to any trails, hike routes and other breathtaking natural sites with ease. There's plenty of space in the lodge, it's got great heating which is accessed by a single thermostat right at the entrance. The hot tub was amazing and has been used on an almost daily basis. The kitchen was very well equiped, had great cooking facilities, easy to use hob and oven and generally had lots of storage space. The living room was comfortable with great couches, a big tv, some lovely decor, the wifi had decent speed and plenty of channels to choose from. The welcome pack could use some updating. The instructions for the wifi password were incorrect and the correct password was on the router itself. To add to that, we couldn't find any instructions for the fire place (we were both inexperienced with handling it) as it was getting very cold during our stay. A pair of slippers could have also been nice, but that was a minor issue. The washing machine could have also used some cleaning and the en-suite bathroom's ceiling and window could use some updating.

1. Heather Cottage. We couldn't fault the Cottage. It had everything we needed. 10 minutes walk to the centre of Aviemore. The hot tub was well used. Fantastic. 5/5 2. Aviemore. 1st time we've been to Aviemore. A real tourist hub. Loads of restaurants and hotels for eating out. Spoiled for choice with takeaways. Some good local walks. The orbital round Loch Morlich and the walk round the outskirts of Aviemore, both 1hour 45 minutes, are a must. Further afield, the Drumochter Pass Munros are ½ drive away. 5/5 3. Weather. We couldn't have been luckier with the weather. Blue sky all week and 25° on the Thursday, hottest place in Scotland. All in all, a great week. We'll be back. 5/5

A comfortable cottage with an amazing hot tub
on Saturday, 17 Aug 2024
Our family really enjoyed our holiday to Heather Cottage in August 2024. The house was tastefully furnished and we have everything we needed. The mattresses were very comfortable and there were plenty towels for everyone to use. However, it would have been even better if we were provided with extra towels to use with the hot tub. The highlight of the trip was the top quality and very spacious hot tub which we used at least twice a day! It was lovely to come home to a warming hot tub at the end of our active days out in Aviemore. We had mixed weather during our stay, but the hot tub has a roof, so we were able to use it despite the weather. There is a Co-op 5 mins walk which is very handy! The location is great, it's easy to access and the surrounding streets are quiet. You can access lots of family fun activities near-by.
