About Laggandhu

Discover the peace and beauty of the Scottish Highlands at Laggandhu Cottage, a lovingly restored retreat nestled in the tranquil rural setting of Dorback Estate. Surrounded by ancient woodland and rolling hills, this charming self-catering cottage is the perfect place to unwind and reconnect with nature.

As you arrive, you will be welcomed by a spacious boot room ideal for storing muddy boots, walking gear, and outdoor essentials. Inside, the heart of the home is a generous open-plan kitchen and dining area, complete with a well-equipped kitchen, large dining area, striking exposed timber beams, and a beautifully tiled wood-burning stove, a warm and welcoming space for shared meals and long conversations.

The cosy sitting room, also featuring a wood-burning stove, offers the perfect place to relax and unwind after your adventures. On the ground floor, you will also find a large bedroom, making the cottage accessible and comfortable for guests with limited mobility. Upstairs, two additional charming bedrooms and a modern shower room complete the sleeping arrangements.

The setting of Laggandhu is nothing short of magical. At the side of the property, a newly added wood-fired hot tub sits on a raised deck, offering a wonderfully relaxed spot to soak while taking in sweeping views of the Cairngorm Mountains and simply enjoy the peace and stillness of the native woodland. The private garden is a haven for wildlife, don’t be surprised to spot red squirrels darting amongst the trees or roe deer grazing nearby.

Authentic and comfortable

If you want to stay somewhere remote, quiet and peaceful, but without having to compromise in comfort, Laggandhu is the place to be. Very beautiful cottage which is well maintained. Not too far from activities and shops in the surrounding environment. We would definitely come back and can highly recommend this cottage.

Great house for a relaxing time!

Spacious living space and comfortable bedrooms in a very quiet setting. House has everything you need and the kitchen is well stocked with crockery, cutlery etc - all you require for making meals at home. Outdoor space includes garden area, decking and a hot tub - all of which adds to the property :). Nethy Bridge is located about 5 mins drive away, where you can get the basics and both Grantown on Spey & Aviemore are just a bit further. Plenty of walks in the Nethy Bridge area so you don't have to travel too far to enjoy this beautiful part of the world. Only negatives are the ticks (for the dogs) at this time of year. Thanks and would recommend.
