Boat of Garten Village
Boat of Garten is located in the heart of the Cairngorms National Park. Centrally located in the Highlands of Scotland, it is the perfect place from which to explore the wider area, access the mountains, moorlands, and rivers, or simply unwind. There is an 18-hole golf course, fishing on the River Spey, bird-watching, walking, climbing, skiing. Cycle on fantastic woodland tracks and quiet roads. The Speyside Way runs through the village and meets the Sustrans cycle route in the centre of the village. There is also a brand new mountain bike pump track. Perfect for testing your skills and great fun for everybody. The Strathspey Railway steam train stops in the village next to the community garden and The Boat Hotel.
Boat of Garten is well known as the Osprey Village as it was here that these magnificent birds were first reintroduced in the fifties after completely dying out in the UK more than a hundred years ago. Ospreys can now be seen nesting at the RSPB Osprey centre and hunting over the local lochs and along the River Spey. During the season you can watch them via the Loch Garten webcam.
